I’m Craig Chigwedere, a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist and Associate Professor in CBT at Trinity College Dublin, with over two decades of experience helping individuals navigate anxiety, uncertainty, and complex mental health challenges. My clinical practice centers on Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and schema therapy, having trained at the prestigious Maudsley Hospital and Institute of Psychiatry in London, and with leading practitioners including Wendy Behary and Dr. Jeff Young in the United States. I currently serve as a cognitive behavioural psychotherapist at St Patrick’s University Hospital in Dublin and as Course Coordinator of the MSc in CBT at Trinity College Dublin, where I’m passionate about both direct clinical work and training the next generation of therapists. My research interests focus particularly on Intolerance of Uncertainty—how our discomfort with the unknown shapes our thoughts, feelings, and behaviors—and I’ve published extensively in peer-reviewed journals, co-authored the book Overcoming Obstacles in CBT, and presented findings at international conferences. Having worked in both the UK and Ireland, trained therapists across multiple countries, and served as Treasurer for the Irish Association of Cognitive and Behavioural Psychotherapy and board member of the British Association of Behavioural and Cognitive Psychotherapy, I bring a global perspective to my work while remaining grounded in the practical realities of helping people change. Whether in clinical practice, teaching, or supervision, I believe in meeting people where they are, understanding that meaningful change comes not from rigid adherence to protocols, but from adapting evidence-based approaches to fit each person’s unique experience, helping you develop the tools and understanding needed to navigate life’s uncertainties with greater confidence and resilience.
